Sacramento/Bay (100 Miles) |
| |
Follow
Highway 50 E through Placerville and over Echo Summit
to South Lake Tahoe. At the intersection of Highway 50
and 89, which locals refer to as the "Y", you
can head North on 89 to Tahoe city or continue following
50 E to South Lake Tahoe and Stateline NV. On busy weekends
and in adverse conditions Echo summit tends to back up.
An alternative route for Bay Area travelers to South Lake
Tahoe would be through Stockton.
Bay Area Alternate: From the east/south
Bay Area take 580 east to 205. Follow 205 to I5 north
to the exit for Route 4 east. Take route 4 to Stockton,
CA. In Stockton you'll use route 99 north to 88 east through
Jackson. Continue on 88 east, look for Kirkwood on your
right, you'll be getting close. 14 miles past Kirkwood
is the intersection of 89 and 88. Tke 89 north to the
intersection of 50 and 89. A right on hwy 50 will take
you to South Lake Tahoe. |

Reno (60 Miles) |
| |
From
Reno/Tahoe International Airport, take Hwy 395 south through
Carson City. Just passed the Fandango Casino in Carson
City you'll find the exit for 50 west on the right. Take
50 west to Lake tahoe, approx 13 miles. Lots of climbing
and winding till you reach the lake. |

Los Angeles (475 Miles) |

There
is lots of ways from LA, 395, the 5, the 99. After driving
LA to Tahoe atleast 20 times our vote is 100% 395. It
is scenic and you aren't traveling next to freight trucks
the entire drive. From downtown and west LA area take
405 north to 14 east through Palmdale. Merge with 395
north after Mojave and follow through, Lone Pine, Bishop,
and Mammoth Lakes. Continue on Hwy 395 north through Minden/
Gardnerville to Hwy 88 Take a left to Centerville Lane
to Foothill (Hwy 206), turn right to Kingsbury (Hwy 207)
to South Shore. |

on 50 towards Sacramento. You have some choices here for
gas, food, coffee, and breakfast so make sure you fill
up on everything you need. Continue past the Agricultural
Station (the bug station) and make a left on Highway 89
following signs to Markleeville. Go all the way up Luther
Pass until it T’s with Highway 88 and go right following
signs to Kirkwood. Kirkwood is on your left in about 14
miles after you go up Carson Pass. Now go shred some pow
and make sure you hit up the Stomping Grounds Terrain
Park on Chair 5…RideLakeTahoe has got some rails
up in there so go hit em up, and after go to Bub’s
and tell Sully, Mike D and Jamie from RIDELAKETAHOE sent
you. |

Sierra
at Tahoe |

West
on 50 towards Sacramento. You have some choices here for
gas, food, coffee, and breakfast so make sure you fill
up on everything you need. Continue past the Agricultural
Station (the bug station) and continue straight up Echo
Summit. Sierra is going to be on your left about 8 miles
from the Bug Station. Go hit up some trees and some pow
and make sure you take a spin through the world class
Superpipe if you have the skills! There is a sick park
on Bashful so hit it up. But don’t worry there is
a park for all abilities so go learn some tricks. After,
go hit up the bar upstairs in the lodge and warm up with
some drinks. |

Heavenly |

The
Gondola is smack in the middle of the Village. This will
take you to terrain for all abilities so don’t be
intimidated. The view from the Gondola of Lake Tahoe is
insane so make sure you don’t leave your camera
at the Hotel. Go enjoy some turns in the trees and some
killer views. Don’t miss the High Roller Terrain
Park if you got the skills but don’t worry, there
is a park for all abilities. After, come on back down
to the Village and hit up any bar around or in the casino’s
and tell stories about how you stomped that switch backside
nine off of that jump….or your sick three feet of
air! |
